Pass Sets
- Short set – three rapid, but measured, run steps towards DL, make contact with inside hand on near # and outside hand on far #, then sink hips and protect. It is best to use when the threat of running the ball exists, not on 3rd and Long.
- Set in Shoes – three rapid steps in place, allowing OL to redirect (best for quick passes by QB). Keep hands up by your chest and be ready to punch.
- 45-degree set – kick with outside foot at 45 degrees and slide inside foot on turf, taking short steps (keeping weight on insteps). Aggressive set which will take away the DLs bull rush. Keep hands up by your chest and be ready to punch.
- Vertical set – kick back with outside foot, slide inside foot (weight on insteps). Keep hands up by your chest and be ready to punch. It is best used against teams where DL like to use twist stunts, not good against a player who uses bull rush.
